Due to genetic limitations, the blue rose cannot exist naturally. The flower rose lacks the specific gene or pigmentation which has the ability to produce colors of true blue. Sometimes, a purple or lavender rose may somewhat appear like a blue rose in certain light. Also, many florists dye white roses with a natural blue dye, and create false-named blue roses. However, with the help of genetic engineering, it is possible for gardeners and greenhouses to reproduce the traits for the color blue in roses. And the same was accomplished by a Japanese company in the year 2004. However, the rose did not have the 'true blue' but a darker color.
The ideal time for pruning is determined by the type and species of the rose plant, and the geographical location in which it is growing. In general, most rose pruning is done in the spring, with a signal like the blooming of the forsythia. In the absence of forsythia, the swelling of leaf buds on your rose bushes can be another good indication. In short, they should be pruned just before growth starts, in March or early April. This is when the bumps on the canes get larger and reddish in color. However, heirloom roses (old) and some climbers that produce blooms on the previous year's wood are the noted exceptions to this rule. They should be pruned after they bloom.
Commonly called Coneflowers, this genus is known by the name Echinacea (derived from Greek echino meaning sea urchin). It blooms for 2 - 3 months, usually from early to late summer. Its amazing color serves as an excellent addition to any garden. Apart from flamboyant blooms, the plant is extremely drought-tolerant. It grows best in a well-drained soil, and areas that receive full sunlight. This genus is endemic to central and eastern North America.
Carefully tip your jar over to an upside down position briefly, before turning it upright again. Place this in a cool, dry area for about 10 days (every 2nd day just shake the contents of the jar), to allow the petals to saturate the essence of the ingredients within the jar. Place these in a nice bowl on your bedside table or on the center table in the living room or even on the dining table. Imagine waking up to the smell of roses - it is quite calming to the senses and can de-stress you through a couple of whiffs.
